Most of the photos on my site have been taken outdoors and are of Gods creation. Bears, volcanoes, vistas. I asked recently on twitter “What is the relationship between art and nature”? This was not the end of the question, rather just something I am thinking about. I believe that what God has created and has provided before our eyes is the inspiration and the beginning of art. Human eyes and especially mine are drawn to beauty in nature and to the beauty around us. Humans are naturally attracted and want to look at other people. I have never met anyone that does not enjoy people watching at the airport. I am sure if you have been there thousands of times you might see the same things and the same people but for most of us people watching is the prime activity at the airport.
This is where my photography is headed. People. This is also the toughest part of photography. One must be good at being with and around others to be able to photograph them. To bring the beauty that is inside out. To show others through photos the best side of a person, not flat but, with light and contrast. To show them in their environment, and to maybe create a bit of escapism to help others out of the rut or mundane in their lives. We all have it and there is a good reason we understand the folk saying “the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence”. We all dream, we all look at each other and wonder. It is time to show others what is in my head, to create with the help of others something that would cause us to stop and wonder, or say wow.
So in short to answer the question, What is the relationship between art and nature? Nature was here before we arrived, it was created by the creator and is the source of inspiration that causes artistes to create.
I hope to share more and more the art I create, without regard to failure or what criticism may come my way.
