I took these shots around 9PM. Everyone had come back from the Falls with great tails and photos to boot. This was my first day in camp and I was the one that had to stay behind because of my permit. I knew that by going to McNeil on this type of permit I had a really good chance of spending some quality time in camp. When this bear wandered close to camp I sprang at the chance to take a few photos. Most of these were taken on top of the cook shack on the observation deck. This night reinforced in me that when you are in McNeil River, never have your camera “put away”, always have it ready! Enjoy this series of photos. Please note that I am working a ton right now and have little time to process photos. This is a journey, not a sprint! More photos will come!
Excellent! Great composition. Filled the frame – unbelievably (assuming you didn’t have to get airlifted out immediately after this). Very interesting pattern of black-brown-tan on the beast’s fur.
