I am still doing very well. Last night wasn’t the best for either of us sleep-wise, so Mike and I are both a little foggy today. We think some of it is still the time change and just different surroundings, etc. I got to take a good nap this afternoon which felt great.
They took x-rays this morning to ensure that the disc is still where it’s supposed to be. The follow up doctor also came to see me and said I am doing well. (It seems that here the surgeon just does the actual operation, and another doc sees to the post-op care.) The best parts today have been that I got my first massage, which was short but felt great, and I got my bandage changed. We got to see the scar for the first time, and it is healing well. It didn’t freak me out to look at it. Mike tried to make sure they got all the disinfectant off before putting on the next bandage. The new dressing is also waterproof, so I got to take a shower! That felt fabulous – I washed my hair twice.
We are taking it easy this afternoon – maybe a little skype and some reading, and then we both hope to just get a good night sleep. The doctor discussed a different medication regimen with me, which hopefully will help me sleep better. The pain is actually less when I am up and about than lying down, which they said is normal.
We have up to a few more days in the hospital and then we get to go to what seems to be a very nice hotel in Bremen for a week. Everyone is looking forward to that!
Please keep your comments and all coming. We love hearing from everyone. Also new photos in Flickr (click link in the Menu)
Jenny & Mike: Sounds great! I’m sure the shower was MOST refreshing! I can vaguely recall my first one after the major medical event 6 years ago – it was WONDERFUL! Gini and I certainly hope (and expect, actually) that all will continue to go very well. — We got home from AZ late yesterday. Had an excellent 2 weeks visiting with Nancy & Ed Owen (Gramma’s next door neighbors). We spent a couple of days in Sedona in their time share, went to the Body World exhibit at the Phoenix science museum (where we could see exactly where your disk went and where Gini’s recent shoulder surgery was done) as well as having dinners in some excellent restaurants. We also spent a few days South of Tucson visiting Gini’s best friend Annie and hubby Jim. Another excellent time. — We’ll try to activate Skype on one of our computers and contact you at an appropriate time tomorrow. Love you guys!!
Just caught up on all the news! We were out of town and unplugged for the long weekend. God is good, glad to hear that it is all going well. People at church have mentioned to me that they have been praying for you Jenny.
We are still praying over your awesome recovery!
