I recently had the pleasure to photograph the new officers at the Aspen Elks Lodge. I set up a studio in the meeting room, and each officer came by to have their photo taken. The Elks specifically wanted photographs of the new officers printed in black and white, in keeping with their tradition. While normally this would not be something to advertise, in this case it is important. The last local photography retailer closed its doors in bankruptcy last year and with it left the ability for most people to print photographs locally. This didn’t cause me any concern, as I have to ability to take a photo from capture straight through to the final print. When I was in high school, most local professional photographers had to go to Walnut House Films for the final printing of their photos. Today an artist and photographer can have control of their creative vision from capture to print. Working with all of the officers at the Elks Lodge was a privilege, and I hope their photos reflect the respect I have for them.
