I just got an E-mail from Santa Fe Photography workshops about going to Cuba this spring. Ah, yes I would love to go, ah, I do not have the dough to go! Here are the great details:
Greetings from Santa Fe:
Building upon the success of our trips to Cuba in 2010, the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops is returning to Havana March 28 to April 4, 2011 for two workshops in partnership with Cuba’s premier photographic organization, Fototeca de Cuba.
Our workshops offer a truly unique photographic and cultural exchange by providing participants the opportunity to experience Cuba through collaboration between American and Cuban image makers. Our immediate goal is bringing photographers from different cultures to exchange experiences, concepts and vision, and to create an environment that is fertile for professional and personal growth. Collectively, the long-term goal is to establish and nurture the collaborative experience, thus building a bridge for long lasting relationships and future projects.
Each workshop is limited to 12 (make that 11, like I said, I would love to go!) photographers accompanied by an instructor and support staff from the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops. We travel through Cancun, Mexico with Cuban visas and return to the US with a license from the US Treasury Department. Once in Havana each workshop is joined by two specially selected English-speaking Cuban photographers. On a daily basis, we break into small, intimate groups of Cuban and American photographers and venture out on photographic explorations to “off-the-beaten-path” Havana.
Attached are course descriptions and pricing for our upcoming two workshops in Cuba. Should you wish to enroll in a workshop you must fill out the attached application form (open in Adobe Acrobat Reader or Pro and use the Typewriter Tool) and email it back to our office in Santa Fe (send application to cuba@santafeworkshops.com; no phone registrations). Notify us which workshop you are applying for and also let us know if you would like to enroll in the other workshop if your first choice is full. We process each application as it arrives and notify you by phone of acceptance and to obtain your credit card information for a $1000 deposit. Final payment is due February 8 and there are no refunds after this payment is made as all visas and licenses have to be confirmed by this date.
If we receive your application after the workshops are full, our office will notify you via email and place your name on the waitlist.
Thanks for your interest in our programs in Cuba, and I hope you will join us this spring in Havana.
Saludos,
Reid Callanan
