Hi all,
The day has gone by quickly again. I am still doing well, improving just a little each day. It’s great to have no tethers and be able to shower. I told Dad on the phone tonight (Skype) that this is kind of like Spine Surgery Camp as much as it is a hospital. There aren’t set vistiting hours, and we’re able to wander the grounds or go for a walk if we’d like. Don’t think that would happen in the US.
It has been raining most of the day and is much cooler today, so I haven’t made it outside at all. Mike and I watched part of a movie and I’ve read a lot. Tomorrow we break free of camp and move to the fancy hotel closer to the city of Bremen. I’m looking forward to different restaurant choices and being able to choose our own schedule.
All of us international patients have been socializing a lot today – which has aded to the camp feel. My room is the central meeting place. We’ve all shared our stories and fun parts of our lives, as well as what each of us is eager to get back to doing when our recovery is far enough along. There’s lovely camaraderie and encouragement between the patients, which I think helps everyone feel better and heal faster.
More to come from our new digs tomorrow night.
All best,
Jenny
